"It could always be worse"; Paired together, these are the five most condescending words in the English language. My hatred for them rests on the same level as my hatred for alarm clocks, Nicolas Cage, and gin...aka it's a strong fucking hatred. Never tell someone who is already having a bad day that "it could always be worse", because I guarantee you by the end of said day it will either A) get worse or B) they will want to drive to your house, midget in hand, and order that little person to beat the living shit out of you. Using this phrase to help someone "gain perspective" or to "see the bigger picture" only makes you look like a tool. We all have bad days and we all deserve a "dude, your day fucking sucks", not a "be thankful that you aren't in a wheelchair" speech from someone who bitched last Wednesday about the barista at Starbucks getting their order wrong. I don't understand why people feel the need to misinterpret someone's shitty feelings about their day into someone not appreciating life. "Today sucks" doesn't translate into "I fucking hate my life. Where is that damn bucket? I'd like to kick it now, please."
In summary, fuck the chick who wrote The Secret and, of course, I'd like to give a big, fat, juicy 'ol FUCK YOU to today.
